Best VPS for Web Scraping and Automation (2026): AlphaVPS vs DMIT vs BandwagonHost

Many people buy a VPS for scraping and only later learn the terms forbid it. We compare the acceptable use policies, locations, China routes, starting prices and refund terms of AlphaVPS, DMIT and BandwagonHost, and explain when CN2 GIA is worth paying for.

Scrapers, automation scripts and anti-detect browser farms all need a server. Most VPS comparisons focus on price and specs and skip the question that actually gets accounts terminated: does the host's acceptable use policy allow what you're doing?

Break the rules and you risk suspension without a refund. Here's how AlphaVPS, DMIT and BandwagonHost compare on terms, locations and price (checked 2026-10-05; always confirm on the official site). They serve quite different needs: AlphaVPS is low-cost Europe and US hosting, while DMIT and BandwagonHost specialize in China-optimized routes.

Step 1: Do the terms allow scraping?

Host Scraping Proxies / VPN Notes
DMIT ✅ Not banned ✅ Not banned Terms don't ban proxies, VPNs or scraping
AlphaVPS ✅ No explicit clause ⚠️ Personal use only Allows proxies and VPNs for your own use; bans public proxy / VPN / Tor services, artificial traffic and port scanning
BandwagonHost ❌ Explicitly banned ⚠️ No open proxies Terms ban "Data mining, crawling", plus open proxies and Tor; VPNs are allowed

Bottom line: for scraping, look at DMIT or AlphaVPS (AlphaVPS has no scraping-specific clause, but proxies must be for your own use). Don't run scrapers on BandwagonHost; treat it as a stable remote-access server.

Even where the host allows it, collect only public data, respect each target's robots rules and terms, and keep request rates reasonable.

Step 2: Pick a location

Put the server close to your targets:

  • AlphaVPS: Sofia, Nuremberg, London, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle. A good fit for European and US targets, but it has no Asian locations and no China routes.
  • DMIT: Los Angeles, Hong Kong (Equinix HK2) and Tokyo.
  • BandwagonHost: CN2 GIA in Los Angeles, Osaka, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.

If the server only runs your scraper and requests go out through proxies, location matters less. Pick something cheap and stable.

What about China-optimized routes (CN2 GIA)?

CN2 GIA is China Telecom's premium international backbone. Ordinary overseas servers are often slow from mainland China at peak hours; CN2 GIA servers stay fast and stable.

You only need it if you or your team connect from mainland China, for example to remote-desktop into a browser farm. Of these three, DMIT and BandwagonHost offer China routes:

  • DMIT: the Premium network runs on CN2 GIA; the Eyeball network uses CMIN2 in Los Angeles and CMI plus other Chinese carriers in Hong Kong. The Tier 1 network has no China optimization.
  • BandwagonHost: CN2 GIA in Los Angeles, Osaka, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore; its LA eCommerce line adds China Unicom Premium and China Mobile CMIN2.

These routes cost more. DMIT's LA CN2 GIA starts at $10.90/month and Hong Kong at $39.90; BandwagonHost's Hong Kong CN2 GIA 40G plan is $89.99/month.

Quick picks

  • Cheapest box for scrapers and automation, targeting Europe or the US: AlphaVPS, 2 vCPU / 2GB for €2.99/month or 2 vCPU / 4GB for €3.99. Its refund policy excludes orders from China, so start on monthly billing.
  • Stable access from mainland China, and you also scrape: DMIT CN2 GIA. No scraping ban, and Los Angeles is the cheapest location.
  • Remote access from China only, no scraping: BandwagonHost. Plenty of China routes, but its terms explicitly ban crawling and open proxies.

Pair it with the right tools

The VPS runs your code; the requests should usually go out through proxies so the server's own IP doesn't get blocked:
